Vogue violation !!
The headlines around the world today are all about the rather pressing issue of Kim and Kanye's Vogue cover. Kim Kardashian herself has said that this is 'a dream come true ' for her , however the general response from the public hasn't been exactly what Ms.K and Anna Wintour had in mind ! Amongst claims that Kim's fiancé 'begged' Wintour to put his leading lady on the cover of the prestigious fashion magazine , Wintour is also having the deal with gibes about the cover from celebrities such as Sarah-Michelle Geller ,who is claiming to be cancelling her Vogue subscription. It's not only Geller who will no longer be following the fashion bible ,with people from all around the globe venting their frustration by doing the same.
But why exactly are fashionistas so enraged with the latest turn of events ? Well it seems that in the minds of many Kim K is not worthy to grace the cover of Vogue. The prestigious magazine has featured influential women such as Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Naomi Cambell ,Jennifer Aniston and the girl of the moment Jennifer Lawrence . All the above women share one common factor , they are the leading women in their field ,be it acting ,politics or modelling . So what industry is Kim Kardashian leading the way in? Since the time her family arrived in the spotlight during the OJ Simpson trial ,Kim K has covered a wide range of ....interests , such as singing (I can't actually think of the songs name at the moment ,but at least you'll now know just how ..successful the single was!)modelling ,and designing . Of course Kardashian is most famous for her family's reality T.V show 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' and that not so elegant sex tape ,that Kimmy no doubt is willing to forget! And so it seems that Kim K isn't exactly what you'll call a trail blazer in any industry .So this brings up the question of how women are valued in today's society. Kim and the rest of her Kardashian/Jenner sisters have featured in many racy photo shoots , but not much else.It does have to be said however that they do have their own clothing line and Dash stores across America ,but in my humble opinion these are only the result of huge amounts of the families money being pumped into these businesses .And so we now have a woman who was catapulted to fame because of a sex tape gracing the cover of Vogue magazine! As a teenage girl, this does make me angry .Are women now going to be valued by their sex appeal and not there integrity, skills, or personality? In what is already an over sexualised world for teen girls ,this latest move by Vogue has confirmed many peoples fears that , women can only get very far if their willing  to display themselves in a provocative nature. The only silver lining to this rather depressing cloud is that the response of many around the globe ,seem to indicate that others have the same or similar opinion to me .Women have fought long and hard for equality and now it seems that we're willing to become objects of sexual interest to men . It's time that women took a stand against this unsettling new turn of events!!!

P.s I would not describe myself as a feminist ,just a young woman wondering what the hell is going on!
